Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Bakersfield Crash on Highway 99 Near 7th Standard
BAKERSFIELD, CA (November 8, 2021) – A motorcyclist was seriously injured after a crash on Highway 99 near 7th Standard Road in Bakersfield.
According to the Kern Golden Empire and Bakersfield Now, the accident took place on Monday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck shortly after 3 p.m.
The incident began when a part of a truck fell off for an unknown reason on the southbound side of Highway 99 in Bakersfield. That part then hit the motorcycle rider, south of 7th Standard Road.
Truck Part Falls, Hits Motorcycle Rider
The California Highway Patrol said the motorcyclist went airborne and landed on the right hand side of the road. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene near Highway 65.
Medical personnel found the rider lying on the ground and suffering from major injuries as a result of the collision. They rushed the victim to a hospital for treatment.
The report did not disclose the name of the wounded patient and their condition at this time. Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the driver of the truck ended up unharmed.
Officers forced the southbound lanes of Highway 99 to shut down near 7th Standard following the wreck. The cause of the Bakersfield crash is still under investigation.
