Man on Motorized Scooter Bakersfield Hit-and-Run at California Avenue and King Street
BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 19, 2021) – A hit-and-run crash seriously injured a man at California Avenue and King Street in Bakersfield.
According to an article published by the Kern Golden Empire, the accident occurred on Tuesday evening. Officers reported the collision at around 6:40 p.m.
The incident happened on May 18 when a vehicle made a left turn at the intersection of East California Avenue and South King Street.
Bakersfield police said the driver involved then struck a man on a motorized scooter. Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and then found him left wounded on the ground.
Driver Hits Victim, Flees Scene
He sustained moderate to major injuries as a result of the crash. Medical personnel soon rushed the victim to a hospital for treatment.
The name of the patient was not released. Meanwhile, police affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid to the man and fled the area.
Officials described the car as a 4-door hatchback, light blue 2009-2012 Nissan Versa. It has black rims and damage to the rear passenger door and older minor damage to the bottom of the driver door.
Authorities are still searching for the suspect. They forced the intersection of California and King to close following the Bakersfield hit-and-run collision.
