According to Bakersfield Now, a deadly pedestrian versus auto collision took place Wednesday evening on East California Avenue.

Authorities received a call regarding a man being struck by a vehicle just around 10:00 p.m.

Police officials arrived and pronounced the unidentified man dead at the scene.

Per Bakersfield Now, the unidentified man was wearing dark colored clothing which could have made it difficult for motorists to visibly see the victim.

It was confirmed the driver who struck the man stuck around and was cooperative throughout the questioning process. The driver was determined to not have been under the influence.

Bakersfield PD will handle the investigation and will soon release more information.
