Pedestrian Critically Injured in Bakersfield Crash on Columbus Street
BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 29, 2021) – A pedestrian was critically injured after a crash on Columbus Street in Bakersfield.
Kern Golden Empire wrote that the collision took place on Saturday morning. Officers reported the accident shortly before 7 a.m.
The incident happened when a male pedestrian was crossing in the 3700 block of Columbus Street. Bakersfield police said for an unknown reason, a vehicle struck him in the roadway.
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and found the elderly man hurt on the road. He sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.
Elderly Man Hit by Vehicle
Medical personnel soon rushed the patient to a hospital and where they listed him in critical condition. Officials did not release his name.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver involved stopped after hitting the elderly person. The motorist stayed at the crash site and cooperated with the officials.
Officers forced a portion of Columbus Street to shut down for a time following the collision. The Bakersfield pedestrian accident is still under investigation.
