Pedestrian in Wheelchair Seriously Injured in Bakersfield Crash on Union Avenue
BAKERSFIELD, CA (November 22, 2021) – A pedestrian in a wheelchair was seriously injured after a crash on Union Avenue in Bakersfield.
According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch team, the accident took place on Monday evening. Officers reported the incident shortly before 6 p.m.
CHP said a white Honda struck a female pedestrian in a wheelchair for an unknown reason in Bakersfield. The car hit the person at 1030 South Union Avenue.
Victim Hit by Car
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene near Adams Street. They found the victim who sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then rushed her to the Kern Medical Center for treatment. The report did not disclose the name of the wounded party and her condition at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the driver of the Honda stopped and stayed at the site after hitting the person. Officers forced a stretch of Union Avenue to close following the pedestrian collision.
The cause of the Bakersfield wheelchair crash is still under investigation.
