BAKERSFIELD (February 24, 2017)- According to the California Highway Patrol, a pedestrian was fatally struck by multiple vehicles Friday afternoon within the southbound lanes of Highway 99 just south of Olive Drive.
Police officials reported the incident at 1:42 p.m. when a person was struck at either the off-ramp or on the shoulder of the freeway by at a white Dodge pickup and several other vehicles.
Authorities were able to confirm the victim deceased upon their arrival due to severe trauma injuries.
The fire department arrived at the scene occupying multiple lanes on State Route 99.
The No. 4 lane remained open while police scoured the crash site for evidence.
At this time, there is no indication whether or not this was a hit-and-run as the victim remains unidentified.
