Police K9 Cruiser Crash at Bakersfield Intersection
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (May 18, 2021) — A Bakersfield Police car crash happened Tuesday morning between the K-9 vehicle and a car crash at the intersection of Oak Street and California Avenue.
The police officer was traveling southbound on Oak Street with lights and siren activated, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.
Apparently, an eastbound vehicle struck the police cruiser as it slowly proceeded into the intersection at about 5 mph. The second vehicle was heading eastbound on California Avenue prior to the two-vehicle collision.

Additionally, the car overturned after hitting the police vehicle and two two additional vehicles were hit on Oak Street, police said. The report does not clarify if those vehicles were stopped or if they were also traveling through the intersection.
Meanwhile, there were no serious injuries reported after the Bakersfield police car crash, according to Bakersfield.com. Police did not mention whether the canine police dog was inside the cruiser at the time of the crash, nor if the animal was injured.
Finally, there is a video of the crash and police interviewed several witnesses. Investigators will determine fault for the crash after reviewing all the facts.
