At roughly 1:10 a.m., the driver of a 2005 Ford Focus, Nick Castro, 24, had been heading northbound on Union Avenue. For unknown reasons, Castro allowed his vehicle to veer off the road directly into a tree.
Castro had two passengers accompanying him identified as Daniel Hernandez, 24, and Savannah McConn, 20.
McConn tragically suffered fatal injuries after being ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Both Hernandez and Castro were injured and transported to Kern Medical Center, where their conditions are unknown.
Californa Highway Patrol officials have ruled out the possibility of drugs or alcohol being a factor.
