Bakersfield Teen Bicycle Accident Ming Avenue and El Portal Drive

Bicycle Rider Severely Injured in Bakersfield Crash at Ming and El Portal

BAKERSFIELD, CA (March 17, 2023) – A teen bicycle rider was severely injured after a crash at Ming Avenue and El Portal Drive in Bakersfield.

According to the Bakersfield Now and Kern Golden Empire, the accident took place on Friday evening. Officers reported the collision on March 17 at around 7:02 p.m.

Bakersfield police said the incident happened when the 16-year-old victim was riding a bicycle in the area of Ming Avenue and El Portal Drive in the city. At the same time, a car was going west on Ming.

For an unknown reason, the female driver failed to see the bicyclist in the roadway. She then struck the rider at the intersection.

Bicyclist, 16, Hit by Car

Paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found the teen who ended up suffering from life-threatening injuries as a result of the accident.

Medical personnel rushed the patient to a hospital for treatment. The report did not disclose the condition of the wounded party at this time.

Meanwhile, policed added that the motorist stopped and stayed at the site following the collision. Officers forced the area of Ming and El Portal to shut down after the wreck.
