1 Seriously Injured in Crash on Highway 99 Near White Lane

BAKERSFIELD (September 7, 2017) – One person was injured after two trucks collided on Highway 99 Thursday morning, according to ABC 23.

At approximately 4:20 a.m. today, two trucks carrying pumpkins were reportedly involved in an accident on the highway near White Lane. Officials said the two trucks were traveling after each other on the same lane. Then for unknown reasons, the truck in front slowed down, and the man driving behind failed to hit his brakes on time to avoid collision. The second truck crashed into the rear of the first, resulting in the second truck driver pinned between the two rigs.

Officials said the pinned driver was successfully extricated in a brief time by responding firefighters. He was then transported via land ambulance to a nearby trauma center with serious injuries. As of late Thursday evening, no updates have been released on the patient’s condition.

Meanwhile, the major accident prompted road closures in the area. California Highway Patrol group mentioned lanes could be shut down until 8:30 a.m. at the latest to give way to the clearing and investigation.
