BAKERSFIELD: Woman Dead, Multiple Injuries in 3-Vehicle Traffic Collision on Sunset Boulevard

BAKERSFIELD, California (Friday, October 9, 2015) – A 48-year-old woman identified as Noemi Ruiz is dead after three vehicles including a black pickup truck and two sedans collided this evening at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and State Route Highway 184.

The woman’s 17-year-old son was critically injured in the crash and taken to a local hospital for further treatment.  Police say a suspected hit-and-run driver ran through a traffic sign and broadsided the woman’s vehicle and then fled the scene.

This collision required the California Highway Patrol, Arvin Police Department, and the local fire department. The wrecked vehicles posed a serious traffic hazard, requiring the temporary closing of the roadway.  Police are searching for the suspect driver described as a Hispanic man in his 40s who was driving a black pickup truck.

The traffic collision occurred at about 7:32 p.m. this evening, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol, Bakersfield.
