Woman, 84, Severely Injured in Balboa Park Hit-and-Run on State Route 163 at Quince
SAN DIEGO, CA (April 1, 2021) – A suspected hit-and-run crash severely injured an elderly woman on the State Route 163 off-ramp in Balboa Park.
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune and FOX 5 News, the accident occurred on Thursday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck shortly before 1 p.m. in Balboa Park.
Police said a 2018 Honda HRV spun out of control and slammed into a guardrail for an unknown reason. The Honda then struck a retaining wall on the Quince Drive off-ramp from north State Route 163.

Firefighters along with the paramedics soon responded to the scene. They found the 84-year-old woman driving the SUV who ended up hurt as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel rushed her to a hospital for treatment of multiple life-threatening injuries. Officials did not disclose her name and condition at this time.
Meanwhile, police believed that another vehicle struck the Honda due to an unexplained and unusual damage to its back. They added that the other motorist fled the area.
Officers forced a portion of State Route 163 to close following the Balboa Park crash. Authorities are investigating the collision a potential hit and run.
