Balmor Alvarenga Killed in Crash with Teen
LONG BEACH, California (Sept. 22, 2017) — Balmor Alvarenga, 58, of Los Angeles was killed Wednesday afternoon in a crash allegedly caused by an alleged speeding teen driver.
The two motorists crash collided about 3:50 p.m. at Studebaker Road and Pacific Coast Highway, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The vehicles both wound up on the grassy parkway, just southwest of the intersection.
The teenager, who is a minor living in Huntington Beach, was driving a 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse at speeds of 60 mph and was allegedly weaving in-and-out of traffic prior to the collision. As the teen approached the intersection, another motorist made a left-hand turn in front of the Mitsubishi. The teen swerved his vehicle and crossed into the eastbound lanes where it struck Alvarenga’s 2016 Toyota Corolla.
The teenager survived with moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Witnesses are asked to contact Detective Sirilo Garcia of the LBPD’s Collision Investigation Detail at (562) 570-7355.
