Banessa Santana, 33, ID’d as Hit-and-Run Driver in Thermalito Crash on 12th Street
THERMALITO, CA (March 13, 2022) – Authorities identified Banessa Santana as the suspect in Thermalito hit-and-run crash on 12th Street.
Police affirmed that the 33-year-old Oroville woman fled the scene of the collision which took place on Saturday afternoon.
The incident began when Banessa Santana was driving a white BMW in the Thermalito area. She almost slammed into the front-end of a patrol vehicle in the area.
Police tried to stop the driver who continued westbound on Mono Avenue. She then hit a black Honda Civic headed south on 12th Street at the time.
2 Children Injured in Wreck
Two juveniles and a man were riding the Honda when the suspect hit their car. The Chico Enterprise Record wrote that the accident occurred at about 3:53 p.m.
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found the juveniles hurt. They took one of them, a 5-year-old boy, to a local hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.
Medical personnel listed the other child in serious but stable condition. Meanwhile, officers are still searching for Banessa Santana for hit-and-run, causing serious bodily injury and evading police.
Police soon arrested her passenger, 50-year-old Jeremy Papesh, for outstanding felony warrants. They booked the Oroville man into the Butte County Jail.
The Thermalito hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
