Woman, 77, Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash on Highway 99
BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. (Sept. 8, 2022) – It has come to our attention that Barbara Harris, 77, of Brownsville, has died in a two-vehicle collision Monday on Highway 99 at Highway 162 in Butte County.
The crash occurred about 12:20 p.m. on Sept. 5th, according to Action News Now and the Butte County Coroner’s Office.
The 77-year-old woman was traveling as a passenger in a 2011 Kia at the intersection when a driver in a 2007 Chevrolet Colorado allegedly ran through a red light and crashed into the driver’s side of her car. The impact pushed the Kia forward into two vehicles stopped at the red light in the southbound lane of Highway 99.
Additionally, a juvenile passenger riding with her in the Kia suffered moderate injuries, the report said. The 75-year-old Oroville man driving the Kia did not report any injuries at this time.
Meanwhile, the 37-year-old Yuba City man driving the overturned Colorado had major injuries and a juvenile passenger had minor injuries.
Finally, the CHP is heading up an investigation into the crash and early indications are that drugs may be a factor.
