HOOD, Calif. (July 6, 2023) — Barry McClain, 70, of Courtland, died in a crash on Highway 160, just south of Hood.
The deadly crash occurred around 7:37 p.m. on on June 30th, just south of Hood Franklin Road, according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
The 70-year-old man reportedly drove off the road in an attempt to avoid a head-on crash with another motorist. It’s unknown at this time if the two vehicles made contact. Barry McClain reportedly died following the collision.
The second motorist is suspected of under the influence, police officials said.
The case remains under investigation.
