1 Killed in Barton Crash on Highway 88 Near Timberline Drive
AMADOR COUNTY, CA (March 16, 2022) – A crash killed at least one person on Highway 88 near Timberline Drive in Barton.
According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch team, the accident took place on Wednesday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck at about 2:24 p.m.
CHP said a motorcycle and a Peterbilt water tanker collided for an unknown reason in the Barton community of Amador County. The two crashed on eastbound Highway 88, just east Timberline Drive.
Motorcycle and Truck Collide
The incident log added that one of the vehicles involved caught fire upon impact. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene.
Medical personnel confirmed that one party died as a result of the collision. The name of the deceased individual has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, CHP forced the eastbound lanes of Highway 88 to shut down near Timberline following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Barton crash is still under investigation.
