Furthermore, medical crews mentioned almost all of the students felt better after being checked. The families of all 36 children were notified and the students were picked-up shortly after.
Meanwhile, the HazMat team affirmed nothing harmful was found in the school vicinity. But a construction crew was lining a pipe under Casey Street with resin at the time and officials believe the smell may have drifted over to the school during recess, causing the incident.
According to authorities, fumes are not considered harmful, but construction was halted anyway. At this time, it is unclear when it will resume.
There are several types of harmful accidents that may occur in any construction site. Some of these are chemical exposure, structural failure, and operating and moving equipments. Workers are usually the victims in these construction tragedies but sometimes, bystanders may also incur pain, injuries, and trauma from such incidents. Under California Law, injuries and disturbances caused by hazardous construction sites are commonly settled through disbursement of monetary compensation to the victims. However, if negligence was a factor in the occurrence of an incident, an additional personal injury lawsuit may be filed against the at-fault parties.
