Several Injured After City Water Truck Crash at Paradise Valley and Gilmartin Drive
LOCATION: Bay Terraces, San Diego County
DATE OF COLLISION: Thursday, September 20th
September 20, 2018 – Multiple people were injured in a traffic collision involving a utility truck in the area of Paradise Valley Road and Gilmartin Drive, according to San Diego Union-Tribune.
The accident was reported on Thursday around 3 p.m.
Preliminary investigation revealed a flatbed truck driven by a 28-year-old man was heading east on Paradise Valley Road. For reasons still under investigation, the flatbed truck crashed into the rear of a San Diego Public Utilities Department water truck.
Officials determined the flatbed truck was travelling close to the speed limit when the collision occurred.
City Workers Injured Thursday in Bay Terraces Truck Accident
As per the article, city workers in the water truck sustained minor injuries as a result of the accident. The names of the victims, and their conditions at this time have not been disclosed thus far.
Authorities added the flatbed operator was taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital in Hillcrest for treatment of serious leg and internal injuries.
At this time, the investigators handling the case continue to work to determine liability in the accident.
