BEAUMONT, California (October 12, 2015) — A 50-year-old man who was riding as a passenger in a car that overturned on Viele Avenue Sunday afternoon was killed and the teenage driver has been arrested.
Jacob Mason-Knust, 19, of Beaumont was arrested by police after he fled the scene of the fatal solo rollover crash on a dirt road between 1st Street and Westward Avenue. The passenger in the vehicle was thrown out and died of his injuries at the scene shortly after the 3:08 p.m. crash. A second passenger was not injured in the crash.
The teenage driver was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run charges and booked into Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning. Witnesses are asked to contact the Beaumont Police watch commander at 951-769-8500.
