Man, 39, Identified as Victim of Crash on Carson Street
LONG BEACH, Calif. (June 20, 2024) – Benjamen Golonsky, 39, died last Friday in a pedestrian accident after he was struck by a vehicle on Carson Street in Long Beach.
The deadly crash occurred at about 10:40 p.m. on June 14th at the Carson Street and Gundry Avenue intersection, MyNewsLA reports. It happened around two blocks east of Orange Avenue.
The Long Beach Police Department responded to the scene and questioned the driver involved.
The motorist was reportedly heading eastbound on Carson Street and hit the pedestrian who was not in a marked crosswalk, police said. The victim, who was reportedly homeless, died at the scene. The driver cooperated with the traffic investigation.
The man who died was later identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner as Benjamen Golonsky, 39.
Police do not believe that speed, distracted driving nor impairment were factors in the pedestrian accident on Carson Street.
