Benjamin Garcia Reyes, 23, ID’d as Suspect in South Lake Tahoe DUI Crash
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CA (March 20, 2022) – Authorities detained Benjamin Garcia Reyes after a DUI crash in South Lake Tahoe.
Police are investigating whether or not the 23-year-old Freedom man was driving under the influence when the wreck took place on Saturday night.
The incident began when Benjamin Garcia Reyes was driving a pickup truck east on Lake Tahoe Boulevard in South Lake Tahoe. A white SUV was traveling in the same direction towards Stateline at the time.
He then clipped the SUV from behind. The Tahoe Daily Tribune wrote that in the process, the SUV spun out of control due to the impact of the collision.
1 Seriously Injured in Wreck
The accident occurred on March 19 at about 11:30 p.m. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and found the driver of the SUV hurt.
The victim ended up suffering from major injuries as a result of the wreck. Medical personnel rushed him to the Barton Memorial Hospital and listed him in stable condition.
The report did not release the name of the wounded party. Meanwhile, police arrested Benjamin Garcia Reyes for felony DUI causing injury following the crash.
Officers soon booked him into the El Dorado County jail. The South Lake Tahoe DUI crash is still under investigation.
