Hit-and-Run Driver Benjamin Mondragon, 31, Seriously Injures Man in Adelanto Crash
ADELANTO, CA (February 19, 2021) – Authorities detained Benjamin Mondragon after a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a man in Adelanto.
The Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station identified the 31-year-old Lucerne Valley man as the suspect in the wreck which occurred on Thursday morning.
The incident happened when Benjamin Mondragon was driving a 2002 Dodge truck west on Air Expressway, approaching Highway 395.
Mondragon then ran a red light at the intersection and struck a 2003 Toyota Corolla. According to the Victor Valley News, the Toyota was going south at the time.

Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and extricated the trapped driver of the Corolla from the wreckage. He suffered major injuries as a result of the collision.
An air ambulance took the 35-year-old man to an out-of-area trauma center for treatment. His name and condition at this time were not released.
Meanwhile, deputies affirmed that Mondragon and his three male passengers exited their vehicle and fled on foot. The accident took place on February 18 at about 7:06 a.m.
Authorities located all four men and arrested Mondragon for hit-and-run causing death or injury. They booked soon him at High Desert Detention Center in lieu of a $50,000 bail.
