1 Killed, 1 Injured in Berkeley Pedestrian Crash Near Ashby Avenue and Newbury Street

BERKELEY, CA (July 27, 2021) – A crash killed a pedestrian and injured another near Ashby Avenue and Newbury Street in Berkeley.

According to The Daily Californian and KRON 4 News, the tragic accident occurred on Monday night. Officers reported the collision shortly before 10 p.m.

Berkeley police said the incident happened on July 26 when a vehicle struck two pedestrians for an unknown reason. The car hit them near the intersection of Ashby Avenue and Newbury Street.

Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found the two female victims hurt as a result of the collision.

2 Women Hit by Vehicle

Medical personnel then rushed them to hospital where one of them, a woman in her 50s, died. The other patient, a woman in her 20s, ended up listed in stable condition.

The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released. Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver stayed at the site and cooperated with the authorities.

Officers forced the area of Ashby and Newbury to shut down for a time following the accident. The fatal Berkeley pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
