Berkeley hit-and-run Interstate 80 Gilman
1 Injured in Berkeley Hit-and-Run Crash on the Interstate 80 Near Gilman Street
BERKELEY, CA (November 16, 2021) – One was hospitalized after a hit-and-run crash on the Interstate 80 near Gilman Street in Berkeley.
The California Highway Patrol said the accident took place on Tuesday morning. According to their dispatch, officers reported the wreck at about 10:21 a.m.
CHP determined that five vehicles collided in the city of Berkeley. They crashed for an unknown reason on the westbound side of the Interstate 80, just west of Gilman Street.
Multiple Vehicles Collide
The incident log described the three of the vehicles as a maroon Nissan sedan, a pickup truck and a motorcycle. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene.
They found one person who complained of pain as a result of the collision. Medical personnel took the patient to the Highland Hospital for treatment of a broken finger.
The report did not disclose the name of the wounded party and their condition at this time. Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that one of the drivers involved did not stop to render aid and then fled the area.
Officers forced the westbound lanes of the Interstate 80 to shut down near Gilman following the wreck. The cause of the Berkeley hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
