Berkeley crash Interstate 80 Gilman
1 Injured in Berkeley Hit-and-Run Crash on Eastbound Interstate 80 Near Gilman
BERKELEY, CA (September 10, 2021) – At least one was injured after a hit-and-run crash on the Interstate 80 near Gilman Street in Berkeley.
The California Highway Patrol received a call about the accident late Friday night. According to their dispatch, officers reported the wreck at about 11:44 p.m.
CHP said a vehicle struck a black Mitsubishi SUV for an unknown reason in Berkeley. The two crashed on the eastbound Interstate 80, just east of Gilman Street.
2 Cars Collide
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene. They found an occupant of the Mitsubishi who ended up hurt as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel provided aid to the victim for the unspecified injuries they sustained in the incident. Officials did not disclose the name of the wounded patient and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that other driver did not stop to help and then fled the area. They described the suspect car as a black colored sedan.
Officers forced the eastbound lanes of the Interstate 80 to close near Gilman following the wreck. The cause of the Berkeley hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
