Pedestrian, 83, Injured in Berkeley Crash on Hearst Avenue Near California
BERKELEY, CA (July 16, 2022) – A crash left a pedestrian injured on Hearst Avenue near California Street in Berkeley.
According to an article published by the Berkeleyside, the accident took place earlier this month. Officers reported the collision shortly before 12:30 p.m.
The incident happened on July 5 when a car struck a female pedestrian in a Berkeley crosswalk. She was crossing Hearst Avenue, just east of California Street, at the time.
Police said the male driver going east stopped at the stop sign in the area. For an unknown reason, he hit the 83-year-old Berkeley woman in the roadway.

The impact knocked the victim down onto the ground. Paramedics arrived at the scene and found her left bloodied, bruised and sore as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel provided treatment to the patient for the unspecified injuries she sustained in the accident. Her name and condition at this time were not released.
Meanwhile, police asked the DMV to reexamine the driver’s license of the 78-year-old Emeryville man who struck the woman. They added that the motorist hit a couple four days after the first incident.
The cause of the Berkeley pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
