Pedestrian Couple Seriously Injured in Berkeley Crash at Martin Luther and Addison
BERKELEY, CA (July 10, 2022) – A crash at Martin Luther King Jr Way and Addison Street seriously injured a pedestrian couple in Berkeley.
According to the KRON 4 News and the Berkeleyside, the accident took place late Saturday night. Officers reported the collision shortly before 10 p.m.
The incident happened on July 9 when a woman, 74, and a man, 76, were crossing Martin Luther King Jr Way at Addison Street in the city.
At the same time, a vehicle was going south on Martin Luther approaching the intersection. Berkeley police said the car then struck the pedestrian couple in a crosswalk.
Car Hits Couple in Crosswalk
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene. They found the victims who ended up suffering from major injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel rushed both patients to a hospital for treatment. The report did not release the names of the wounded parties and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the 78-year-old woman driving the car stopped and stayed at the site after hitting the couple. The cause of the Berkeley crash is still under investigation.
Officers forced a stretch of Martin Luther King to shut down near Addison following the pedestrian incident.
