Woman Critically Injured in Berkeley Pedestrian, Car Accident
BERKELEY, Calif. (May 8, 2019) — A 69-year-old woman was seriously injured Sunday when she was struck by a vehicle while crossing Sacramento Street.
The crash was reported about 5:56 p.m. on Sunday, May 5th at the intersection with Oregon Street.
The Berkeley Police Department responded to the scene between the pedestrian and a vehicle. As the woman was crossing Sacramento Street she was struck by a southbound vehicle driven by a 58-year-old Berkeley man, according to the Berkeley Police Dept.
The driver stopped and cooperated with the police investigation. Meanwhile, the woman was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where she was listed in grave condition.
The police department’s Fatal Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene due to the severity of the collision.
As of Monday afternoon, the woman was in critical, but stable condition.
Police temporarily closed down southbound Sacramento Street at Oregon Street to conduct their investigation.
