SAN DIEGO, California (October 24, 2016) — Bernard Alan Scott, 59, was sleeping in a shallow embankment near the Interstate 8 Freeway when he was killed Saturday morning after a driver lost control and went off the highway into the ditch, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner’s Office.
The crash took place about 6:32 a.m. Police and paramedics called 911 after hearing screams coming from the scene of the crash.
Bernard Scott died of his injuries at the scene and police believe he was a transient who lived in this area.
While the crash remains under investigation by the CHP’s San Diego office, it appears the driver remained at the scene.
