Woman Struck by 2 Vehicles Near Greyhound Bus Station
VICTORVILLE, Calif. (Aug. 1, 2018) — Betina Ann Peschel, 57, of Victorville, died Wednesday morning after she was struck by two vehicles while crossing D Street, at 6th Street, according to the Victor Valley News.
The woman was walking across the 16800 block of D Street in front of the Greyhound bus station. There is no marked crosswalk at this location and the posted speed limit is 40 mph. She was walking across the street when she was struck by a sedan heading westbound on D Street about 1:19 a.m. Then she was struck by a second motorist in a silver Dodge Ram pickup truck who was also traveling westbound.
Paramedics responded to help the woman, but she died of her injuries at the scene.
Police closed down D Street between Fourth Street and 7th Street to conduct an investigation by the Sheriff’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT).
The two drivers stopped and were questioned by investigators about what happened. There were no arrests made or citations given to the motorists.
Traffic Accident Investigation
At this time, it’s unknown who is responsible for this horrible crash. The posted speed limit is 40 mph, but we do not know how fast the two vehicles were driving at the time of the collision. While there is no marked crosswalk, a pedestrian is not prohibited from crossing the roadway here and under California law they have the right-of-way.
We extend our heartfelt prayers to the family of Betina Ann Peschel.
