Woman Killed in Crash on 101 Freeway is ID’d
WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. (Oct. 20, 2022) — Bianca Ibarra, 33, of Whittier, died in a collision early Wednesday morning on the Ventura (101) Freeway at the Shoup Avenue off ramp in Woodland Hills.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff Coroner identified the woman on its website.
Two other people suffered serious injuries in the collision about 12:28 a.m. on Oct. 19th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities believe the vehicle was traveling at high speed when struck the center divider and crashed At some point, the vehicle also collided with a semi-truck, the report said.
The SUV reportedly went off the northbound side of the freeway and down an embankment where it overturned onto its roof, trapping all three people underneath it.
The woman suffered fatal injuries at the scene, but the other two survived with serious injuries.
The Los Angeles Fire Department sent firefighters to rescue the three people from under the vehicle. Two people were transported to a hospital for further treatment and the truck driver was treated for minor injuries.
The collision remains under investigation.
