Bianca Lopez, 20, Suspect in Sherman Oaks Fatal DUI Crash on 101 Freeway
LOS ANGELES, CA (April 25, 2021) – Authorities arrested Bianca Lopez after a fatal DUI crash on the 101 Freeway in Sherman Oaks.
The California Highway Patrol believed that the 20-year-old Los Angeles woman was under the influence of alcohol when the wreck occurred on Saturday.
The incident happened on April 24 when Bianca Lopez was driving a 2008 Honda east on the 110 Freeway in Sherman Oaks.
CHP said Bianca Lopez hit the rear of a 2019 Isuzu box truck, east of Van Nuys Boulevard. The impact caused both vehicles to careen toward the center divider wall.
The Isuzu then entered the westbound lanes of the freeway and collided with a 2017 Honda. Concrete debris from the wall struck a 2016 Dodge also going west at the time.
2 Killed, 2 Seriously Injured in Multi-Car Collision
The 40-year-old female passenger of the box truck died at the scene. Firefighters rushed a 15-year-old boy riding the Isuzu to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, where he died.
Medical personnel transported the 53-year-old man operating the box truck for treatment of moderate injuries. All occupants of the Isuzu were Santa Maria residents.
Paramedics also took the driver of the 2017 Honda, a 49-year-old Reseda woman, to Ronald Reagan with major injuries. The 37-year-old female motorist in the Dodge did not sustain any wound.
The names of the deceased and wounded victims have not been yet released. According to The Daily News and ABC 7 News, officers reported the accident at about 12:10 a.m.
Meanwhile, Lopez ended up hospitalized with moderate injuries. CHP added that authorities soon arrested and took her into custody.
