Bicyclist Injured in Crash on Highway 299 in Shasta County
SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. (Oct. 9, 2023) – A bicycle rider sustained major injuries Saturday in an accident on Highway 299 and Iron Mountain Road just west of Redding.
The traffic accident occurred around 12:45 p.m. on Oct. 7th, according to Action News Now.
The bicycle rider was heading eastbound on Highway 299 before making a left-hand turn onto Iron Mountain Road. That’s when he was hit by a driver in a pick-up truck traveling on Iron Mountain Road.
Paramedics responded and rushed the injured bicyclist to Mercy Medical Center for treatment of major injuries, the report said. Meanwhile, the truck driver was not injured in the collision.
The California Highway Patrol sent police officers to the scene and closed down one lane in each direction on Highway 299 to investigate.
The cause of the bicycle accident on Highway 299 remains under investigation.
