Male Riding Bike Suffers Major Injuries in Car Crash
MONTECITO, Calif. (August 8, 2023) — A major injury bicycle accident on Sycamore Canyon Road (SR 192) happened Tuesday morning at Westmont Road in Montecito.
The collision occurred on State Route 192 about 11:09 a.m. on August 8th, according to a California Highway Patrol dispatch.
A driver in a white Toyota Corolla struck the unidentified male victim due to unknown circumstances. There are no bicycle lanes on this narrow, two-lane stretch of the roadway, but there is a stop sign for traffic entering SR-192 at the three-way intersection.
Paramedics responded to help the injured bicyclist who suffered various injuries including a 4-inch hole in his neck, the report said. The male rider was taken to a hospital for further treatment. His name and age were not released.
Meanwhile, tow trucks removed the damaged vehicle from the road for evidence.
Investigators are working on the case to determine fault.
