Bicyclist Severely Injured After Hit-and-Run on Ingraham Street in Pacific Beach, San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (April 20, 2021) – A hit-and-run crash severely injured a bicyclist along Ingraham Street in the Pacific Beach neighborhood of San Diego.
According to an article published by The San Diego Union-Tribune, the hit-and-run accident occurred late Monday night. Officers reported the collision shortly after 10:20 p.m.
The incident happened on April 19 when a 39-year-old woman was riding a bicycle southbound on Ingraham Street in Pacific Beach.
San Diego police said for an unknown reason a vehicle struck the rider from behind. The driver hit her near Fortuna Avenue, south of Grand Avenue.
Driver Hits Woman on Bike, Flees Scene
The woman ended up ejected from her bike and fell to the ground face down. Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and found her severely hurt as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel rushed the cyclist to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries, including a fractured skull and a major brain bleed. Her name and condition at this time were not released.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid and fled south on Ingraham. Officials described the car involved as a dark colored 4-door SUV.
The SUV sustained front-end damage after hitting the bicycle. Authorities are still searching for the hit-and-run suspect.
