SAN DIEGO, California (October 17, 2016) — A 58-year-old woman riding a bicycle struck a steel plate placed on the road during road improvements and suffered a serious head injury, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The accident took place in the Bay Park neighborhood about 10 a.m. on Sunday morning in the westbound lanes of Garnet Avenue. The woman was thrown from her bike and struck her head causing a brain bleed, but it was not life threatening. Paramedics rushed her to a hospital for treatment.
The San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division is heading up the investigation into the crash.
