JURUPA VALLEY, California (September 12, 2014) – A bicyclist was injured Thursday afternoon when he was struck by a truck on Van Buren Boulevard, south of Clay, according to a press release by the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner.
About 4:57 p.m., Jurupa Valley Police responded to the crash and reported that the cyclist was heading eastbound across northbound lanes of Van Buren Boulevard when he was hit by the truck driver who was heading northbound on Van Buren Boulevard.
The bicycle rider, identified by a local newspaper as Cruz Ruben Negrette, suffered head trauma and a broken femur. He was taken by ambulance to undergo surgery in the ICU at a nearby hospital.
