Anaheim Man, 57, Pronounced Brain Dead 2 Days after Crash

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (Dec. 9, 2019) –Mario Gomez, 57, of Anaheim, was declared brain dead this weekend after being struck by an SUV while riding a bicycle Friday in Huntington Beach.
The Anaheim man was hurt in the 6:30 a.m. crash on Friday, Dec. 6th at Gothard Street and Heil Avenue, according to the Huntington Beach Police
The 34-year-old Huntington Beach man driving the involved 2003 Ford Expedition stopped at the scene and was questioned by
police about what happened.
Meanwhile, paramedics rushed the injured man to UCI Medical Center in Orange where he was treated for “major trauma,” and by Sunday afternoon it was determined that he was brain dead, police said.
