Bicyclist Killed in Car Accident on Roberts Lane in Bakersfield

Bakersfield, CA (June 16, 2025) — A bicyclist was struck and killed by a vehicle late Sunday night on Roberts Lane, just east of Plymouth Avenue in Bakersfield, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Deadly Father’s Day Bicycle Accident

The collision occurred around 11:38 p.m. on June 15, when emergency dispatchers received reports of a vehicle versus bicyclist incident in the 200 block of Roberts Lane. Witnesses stated that the victim, described only as a female, was lying unresponsive in the roadway when first responders arrived.

Bakersfield Fire personnel were on scene shortly after and began assessing the victim, but sadly, the bicyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Kern County Coroner’s Office was notified just before midnight.

CHP officers cleared the roadway shortly after 1:00 a.m. and confirmed there were no other major injuries involved. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

The identity of the bicyclist has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin. It is currently unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
