Man Riding Bicycle Killed in Crash at Fairmount Ave Near 47th Street
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Feb. 13, 2019) –- A 66-year-old bicyclist died early Wednesday morning after being hit by a car in the 1800 block of Fairmount Avenue near a bus stop not far from Ridge View Drive.
The crash was reported to police about 7 a.m. Wednesday morning in the Ridgeview-Webster area.
The 61-year-old driver stopped after the collision and remained at the scene. They are cooperating with the police investigation into what happened.
So far, police do not suspect drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident. Police believe the bicyclist was riding against the flow of traffic prior to the collision. It’s unknown at this time whether the rider fell off the bike before being struck by the Toyota Camry.
