Bicyclist Killed in Crash on Weedpatch Highway in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (June 5, 2026) — William Gerry Porter, 39, of Bakersfield, was struck and killed early Thursday morning while riding a bicycle on Weedpatch Highway in Bakersfield.
CHP official say the man stopped in a southbound lane, just south of Eucalyptus Drive and was hit by a vehicle around 12:14 a.m. on June 4, 2026.
Meanwhile, a 27-year-old man driving southbound in a 2005 Infiniti sedan was approaching the bicyclist from behind and crashed into the rider.
The rider was thrown off the bicycle and suffered major injuries. Sadly, the Bakersfield man died following the collision.
Authorities say the Infiniti driver stopped and cooperated with the investigation.
