Bicyclist Killed In El Monte, Police Searching For Hit-And-Run Driver

 Bicyclist Killed in Hit-and-run Crash El Monte Avenue, Lower Azusa RoadEL MONTE, Calif. (March 24, 2022) – A bicyclist died Tuesday night in a hit-and-run crash at El Monte Avenue and Lower Azusa Road in El Monte.

A driver struck the 59-year-old bicyclist about 8:55 p.m. on March 22nd, according to the El Monte Police Department. The man was riding on his bike and traveling eastbound on Lower Azusa Road. The driver struck him as he reached the intersection at El Monte Avenue, police said.

The man riding the bicycle suffered major injuries and died at the scene. Meanwhile, the motorist involved failed to stop and help the dying man. Instead, the driver fled the scene of the fatal crash.

Police are searching for the hit-and-run driver believed to be in a 2019 or 2020 maroon or burgundy Toyota Avalon. The vehicle is likely to have major front-end damage after hitting the cyclist.
