Bicyclist Killed in Long Beach at Cowles Street and Santa Fe Avenue

Hit-and-Run Driver Sought in Fatal Long Beach Bicycle Accident
Long Beach, Calif. (July 7, 2026) — Authorities are searching for a driver who struck and killed a bicyclist Tuesday in Long Beach at Cowles Street and Santa Fe Avenue.
A man in his 50s riding the bike was hit around 2:35 a.m. on Monday, July 6th at the Long Beach intersection, and police officers found him lying in the roadway, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Despite efforts from emergency crews, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives working on the case believe the bicycle rider was heading west on Cowles Street when the suspect in a vehicle turned east onto Cowles from South Santa Fe Avenue.
The driver failed to stop after hitting the victim and fled the scene, police said. The victim’s name has not been released.
