WHITTIER, California (January 30, 2017) – A bicyclist was killed in an alleged hit-and-run crash on Calmada Avenue Monday morning, according to KTLA.
The accident took place around 7:30 a.m.
As per the article, Whittier police said a man was riding a bicycle when he was struck by a vehicle on Calmada which then turned onto Dittmar Drive.
The cyclist was then dragged between 500 to 800 feet across two residential blocks before the car fled. The rider was found dead on Dittmar while his bike was left on Calmada.
The name of the victim has not been yet released pending notification of family. Police believed he was obeying traffic laws when the fatal collision occurred.
Meanwhile, the driver involved was described as a female who was believed to be operating a newer model, white four-door Lexus with tinted windows and possibly black-and-white paper plates at the time. The car possibly sustained front-end damage and a smashed windshield following the incident.
