One dead after driving off Highway 1 cliff in Monterey County
MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (Feb. 18, 2020) — Two people are dead after a car drove off a cliff and plunged roughly 300 feet below after veering off Cabrillo Highway 1 near Big Creek Bridge in Big Sur.
The California Highway Patrol confirmed two people died in the collision on Tuesday morning, Feb. 18th.
The CHP was notified about the accident about 4:40 a.m. when someone called 911 to report a vegetation fire past Big Sur, approaching Lucia.
Upon their arrival to the scene, police officials saw a 2018 Chevrolet Camaro had driven off the cliff and that had set off a small fire.
The crash remains under investigation and more details will be updated as police release them.
