Bill William Wagner Killed in Salton City Traffic Accident
SALTON CITY, Calif. (Dec. 20, 2018) – Bill William Wagner, 91, of Salton City, died Tuesday night when he was struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle at North Marina Drive and Sea Wind Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The vehicle reportedly struck the elderly man at the back of his bicycle around 2:51 p.m. on December 18 as he rode westbound on North Marina Drive. The 30-year-old woman driving a 2001 Ford Focus was attempting to pass Wagner’s bike on the left, but her vehicle’s right front bumper struck the back of the bicycle.
Wagner was thrown off the bike and suffered major trauma. He was pronounced dead at the scene by arriving emergency responders.
Salton Sea Accident Investigation
Police will determine whether criminal charges should be filed against the driver who struck Mr. Wagner and caused his death.
