Man and Dog Killed in Wasco Crash at Western and Poso
WASCO (November 21, 2018) – Billy Ray Cole, 83, of Wasco, died last week after his vehicle was struck by another vehicle at Poso Drive and Western Avenue.
The crash took place about 12:25 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21., according to Bakersfield Now.
The California Highway Patrol stated that a Chevrolet truck was heading south on Western Avenue when at the same time a 1955 Ford truck was traveling east on Poso Avenue.
The man driving the Ford was making a turn southbound onto Western Avenue, when the operator of the Chevrolet failed to stop at the intersection and struck the Ford.
Paramedics responded and pronounced Cole and his dog dead at the scene.
The driver in the Chevrolet was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
The incident remains under investigation.
Police are heading up an investigation into the cause of this crash and will examine the evidence at the scene, take measurements and speak to those involved as well as witnesses. Upon the conclusion of their investigation, they will determine who is at fault for the crash and whether or not criminal charges should be filed against the driver.
