
13 injured in boating accident in Blythe
BLYTHE, California (March 14, 2016) –Thirteen people were injured Saturday night when a boat traveling at a high rate of speed crashed into rocks on the shoreline of the Colorado River, roughly 30 miles from Blythe, according to a report by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
The crash took place about 5:30 p.m. on Saturday night on the shoreline near the 33000 block of Highway 95. Alcohol is suspected to be involved. The driver of the boat was unable to safely negotiate a turn and lost control of the vessel causing it to crash. Paramedics and police from the Colorado Rivers Station responded to help those involved including three who were airlifted to hospitals with major injuries and six with moderate injuries. Four people declined medical attention, but appeared to be injured.
