BLYTHE, California (May 30, 2014) – A local California law firm who represents several victims of Blythe bus accident says while they may eventually heal from physical injuries resulting from the May 21st crash, but many will never be the same.
“It concerns me that those involved in this crash will suffer greatly beyond their physical injuries,” said Attorney James Johnson. “This was a very traumatic collision involving multiple people who died and were seriously injured. There could be permanent anxiety, similar to post-traumatic stress disorder such as our military experience after surviving attacks in wartime.”
Indeed there were 32 passengers aboard the tour bus when the driver swerved to avoid steel pipes scattered on the Interstate 10 freeway after a big rig jackknifed on the opposing side of traffic. Four people were killed in the horrific 2:15 a.m. crash when the bus eventually overturned.
There are potentially multiple parties who can be held liable for this collision including the semi-tractor trailer truck’s Rialto-based company VG Transport, and the bus company, El Paso Los Angeles Limousine Express Inc.
“Passengers aboard this bus are innocent victims of this tragedy,” said Johnson, who heads up California-based Johnson Attorneys Group. “The tour bus company owes its passengers the highest duty of care to drive safely and provide a safe vehicle to ensure they arrive at their destination.”
According to reports by the Press Enterprise, driver Victor Esteban Galvan’s 2006 freight truck was illegally on the road as its DMV record shows its registration expired in January. Additionally, an Arizona inspection showed other federal Department of Transportation violations such as the truck had not undergone scheduled inspections and the driver’s Hours of Service log was not current, the Press Enterprise said.
Upon the release of the official police report, Johnson Attorneys Group will discover all the facts associated with this accident and will be able to identify all liable parties responsible for this tragedy.
